WHO ARE WE AT YWAM?

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is the international interdenominational missionary organization founded in 1960 by Loren & Darlene Cunningham. Since then it has mobilized four millions persons to the missionary service on short, medium and long term to do activities of evangelism, missionary training and humanitarian works on the five continents. YWAM has presence in 173 countries through 1,200 permanent facilities. Nowadays our task force is 20, 000 full time workers, plus volunteers from all around the world, whose age ranges from 18 years old to 70.

YWAM includes thousands of personas and hundreds of ministries from almost every country of the world. On every case, our passion is to know God and to make Him known.

We are a combination of people from all around the world. On many of our locations, there are people from a wide variety of nations work neck to neck. We come from numerous and different Christian denominations and we speak hundred of languages. Almost a half of our staff comes from countries such as Brazil, South Korea, Indonesia, India and Nepal.

Added to our full time staff, many YWAM´s locations receive short term teams composed by individuals, youth groups, families and churches that have a hands-on participation on making God known through actions and words. We send out 25, 000 short term missionaries every year.

There are three lines of action that define everything that YWAM does:

Evangelism
Some of our creative tools that we use for presenting the Gospel include music, dramas, contemporary art (Muralism, artistic graffiti paintings, choreographies, etc.), camps, sport competitions. Our purpose is to spread the Gospel through the effective channels so the audience –either if they are teenagers, elder refugees, or an unreached group- can understand it. YWAM also works in church planting among the unreached ethnic groups.

Ministerios de Misericordia
Our Mercy Ministries are the “hands and feets” that make God known. YWAM helps supplying to some of the practical need of around 400,000 persons every year. The ways through we offer reached helpful hands is taking care of children on Southamerica´s streets, helping on the rehabilitation of dug addicted people in America and West Europe, feeding and giving shelter to refugees and needy women in Africa and Asia, and sailing ships that share the Good News through verbal and practical ways.

Training and Discipleship
The training and discipleship are focused on equipping on the best way to christians so they can serve others on activities that ranges from agriculture and health care to drug addiction rehabilitation and Bible counseling. Through YWAM´s The University of the Nations the missionaries can study specialized areas such as Science and Technology, Linguistics, Humanities, and Christian Ministry. Most of our schools combine classrooms teachings with discipleship centered on relationships and practical service.

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a requirement to apply as YWAM staff, and also for all of our training programs.

Every year 10,000 students attend our schools at The University of The Nations located in our different 250 locations.
